- renovate internal doors
Methodology
Remove existing washroom cubicles and kitchen units
- existing cubicle units removed from single male and female toilets. All plumbing and sewage connections made safe in preparation for modification works.
Remove existing carpets to sections
- existing carpets to rooms 1 and 2 were removed in sections and discarded. This enabled us to prepare the floor surface for self-levelling compound install.
Install new self levelled latex and anti slip safety vinyl flooring
- latex self levelling compound applied to the sub floor
- anti slip vinyl laid to floor and fixed with trowel on chemical resin
Install new toilet below ground drainage and plumbing
- Excavate below ground drainage for toilet one, to facilitate the drainage setup for two junior toilet cubicles. Backflow siphonage prevention is then installed to the toilet cistern feeds. Hot and cold water plumbing modifications are then implemented to facilitate new wash hand basins in toilets one and two.
Install new kitchen
- installation of new kitchen units to existing Library staff room utility area. Kitchen units and cooking facilities installed to better prepare meals for the nursery children.
- Cooking facilities and preparation area installed in consultation with Ofsted inspectors.
Internal modifications to doors and floors
- finger guards installed to all existing doors.
- safety catches installed to doors between connecting rooms to ensure chid safety is exercised.
Install new durable washroom cubicles
- existing single units removed from male and female adult toilets. Unit one to be transformed into a two unit junior cubicle, and second unit to be transformed into a unisex adult toilet with baby changing section.
- installation of washroom cubicles was carried out in accordance to the design specifications set by the nursery management.
- 3 washroom cubicles were installed. Two junior units and one unisex adult unit.
- *the cubicles were constructed from Compact Grade Laminate composite material. This structure type provides durable and water proof cubicles as compared with the cheaper melamine faced chipboard carcasses.
Install new wash hand basins and vanity units
- wash hand basins were installed with single non-concussive taps supplied from a thermostatic mixing valve. The valve reduces the temperature to prevent scolding from the hot water supply.
