Project summary
Supply and installation of bi fold doors.
Property is located in Norbury, Croydon, SW16. The property is a brick/render semi detached house with 5 beds and three reception rooms.
The brief was toremove exisitng sliding doors that were circa 30 years old, and replace with moder bi folding doors opening out onto the garden.
If you would like to add a wow factor to a newly built home extension, or open up a Juliet balcony on a loft conversion, bi-fold doors are a must-have addition.
Methodology
This is one of our more straightforward bi fold door installations. Unfortunately, when you gain experience as a contractor, some jobs don’t have sex to them.
This job was what we refer to in the trade as straight in-and-out.
We attend site and take the measurement of the existing door in-situ. Now you would think this was simple, but the external render obstructed from view the full width of the existing door frame.
With the client’s permission, we break away a small amount of external render at each side of the existing door to measure the full width of the new unit. This trick saves allot on the cost of internal making good.
We then place the bi fold into manufacture to be delivered to the address within 2-3 weeks.
We book installation with the client, once the bi fold door is delivered to site.
We attend site with a couple of skilled contractors, to ensure all the heavy lifting of the bi fold door can be managed into position. The bi fold door is installed in accordance with the manufacturers specification. This preserves the 10 year warranty which is passed onto the client on all fixed and moving parts of the bi fold door.
Internal and external making good takes place by one operative, whilst the other carefully tunes and balances the door for smooth opening.
All waste is removed from site, and the client’s property is left clean and tidy.
Result
This installation for one of our regular clients. We previously built their side and rear home extension. They called us back to deliver.
So, as per request, we delivered a thermally broken aluminium bi-fold door installation successfully. All external making good completed with pebble dash finish. All internal making good carried out whilst we replaced the internal flooring to the lounge.
Client was extremely happy when they opened the doors for the first time, and that WOW factor was dlivered.
