Project summary
This property was a 1930s end terrace property. The property is located on a hill incline with an undercroft located at the front lower ground end of the property. All properties on this area were of similar construction and shared the same challenges of combating damp and water ingress into the lower ground area of the property.
After installing a successful basement tanking system. We were moved on to install a cloak room bathroom with toilet, wash hand basin and central heating.
Methodology
Installation of a below ground bathroom. Room was built inside a stud wall partition which was insulated and sound proofed from the lounge upstairs.
Walls were boarded with moisture resistant plaster board and the shower enclosure was lined with hardi backer tile board to resist more extreme moisture vapours.
Installation of plumbing for hot and cold water with flow and return run for towel rail radiator run off the local central heating.
Back to wall toilet pan installed with wash hand basin and vanity unit.
The client chose anti slip vinly flooring to line the floors as the shower enclosure was potentially a wet floor area.
Walls were plastered with British Gypsum multi finsh and lined with Metro style tiles to cover the wet areas.
Result
The home owners were very specific with the type and style of finish required.
With their stylish tatse and our expertise we managed install a functional, hard wearing and stylish bathroom.
Where their was previously and unused, damp and cold room, we have delivered a usuable bathroom that will serve the home onwer’s family for many years to come.
