Property is a 4 storey Vicotrian unit located in Brockwell park, south west London in the London borough of Lambeth. The property built of solid brick construction London stock bricks. The property is located in the Brockwell park conservation area.
The brief was to construct a rear home extension with an external opening to facilitate a a bi-fold door installation opening between the kitchen and garden.

Methodology
structural calculations are prepared based with the specification for the construction of the rear home extension.
Installation of a 2No steel beams installed. Spec of 178 x 102 x 30 UB bolted at centres . This choice of support allowed us to finish the external side with render to mathc the client’s external finish specification.
Temporary hoarding is installed over night to secure the property during the work period. Boards are fixed from the internal side to maintain overnight security in accordance with insurance approved security methods.
Structural props remain in place to support the steel beam once installed to allow the curing process of the pad stones to settle with minimum shrinkage and movement across the span of the beams.
Installation of the thermally broken aluminium bi fold doors is then completed. Bi fold doors installed in accordance with manufacturers specifications and fixing methods. Bi fold doors are balanced and tested for water tightness with a pressure test.
Internally, the steel beams are then lined with fire retardant board and the internal reveals are plaster skimmed. All making good is taking care of during the instalaltion of the bi fold doors, so their is no need for clients to follow up with seprate building contractors to apply the finishing touches to make your bi fold doors look spectacular!!
Result
Thermally broken aluminium bi-fold doors successfully installed to yet another property. All external making good completed with render finish painted and decorated. Final visit from Lambeth building control passed with flying colours.
