Project summary
This property was a 1930s end terrace property. The property is located on a hill incline with an undercroft located at the front lower ground end of the property. All properties on this area were of similar construction and shared the same challenges of combating damp and water ingress into the lower ground area of the property.
The dampness rendered the lower ground floor of the property barely unusable due to the constant slug infestation and damp smells.
Prior to starting the project, the customer was running a dehumidifying machine 24 hours a day to remove moisture from the space.
Methodology
Installation of Newton 500 meshed membrane with cavity drain system. Mesh mechanically fixed with newton Multi plugs which provide screw fixings through the membranes whilst maintaining water tightness. This allows us to create usable room structures inside the membrane for the customer.
Result
Homeowners were impressed with the speed at which the damp smell was removed from the basement area. The tanking was successful enough to install a new bathroom and utility room.
The system is maintained on an annual basis with two visits per year. Checks are made to the system water tightness and the performance of the drainage channels are maintained.
The result is a dry, usable basement ready for construction of a utility room and services for a kithchen renovation.
